Militants blow up 2 Agip pipelines in Bayelsa — 9th July 2016 SUSPECTED militants in the wee hours of yesterday blew up two pipelines belonging to the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Bayelsa State. The incident is coming less than 48 hours after the militant group, Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF) threatened to blow up six oil flow stations in Bayelsa State. The militant group had expressed displeasure over the present government inability to address the challenges confronting the Niger Delta region. According to the group, in a statement signed by the General Akotebe Darikoro; Commander, General Duties, General Torunanaowei Latei; Creeks Network Coordinator, General Agbakakuro Owei-Tauro; Pipelines Bleeding Expert, and General Pulokiri Ebiladei, Intelligence Bureau, “the attitude of President Muhammadu Buhari in his stand not to address the basic issues raised by us, which we believed are within the confine of the president to address once and for all.” The affected pipelines include the Teibidada- Brass pipeline and the one at Goulobikiri running through Lasukugbene. According to investigations, the suspected militants came in two speed boats and used dynamites to blow up three points at the Teibidaba- Brass oil pipeline. The Commandant of the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps (NCDSC) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Desmond Agu, who also confirmed the development said men of the command exchange gunfire with the suspected militants,which prevented them from carrying out further bombings. “Reports from the swamp area indicate that last night (early hours of this morning) a gang of heavily armed youths with two double 200hp speedboats used explosives to blast three different points on the Tebidaba-Brass Naoc pipeline.
